Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about pricing, repairs, scheduling, and our service area — the same honest way we'd explain it at your kitchen table.
Pricing & Payment
No — if you approve the repair, the $85 diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair cost. You only pay it separately if you decide not to move forward with the work.
Our handyman rate is $75 per hour with a 1-hour minimum. For bigger projects we'll give you a flat quote up front so you know the total before we start. Our rates sit right at — or below — the South Florida market average for licensed, insured pros.
Never. You'll know what things cost before we start — that's how our dads raised us. We quote the work, you approve it, and the final bill matches the quote. If anything unexpected comes up mid-job, we stop and talk to you before doing (or charging) anything more.
We accept cash, credit and debit cards, Zelle, and Apple Pay. Payment is due when the job is done and you're happy with the work.
Repairs
We follow the 50% rule: if the repair would cost more than about half the price of a comparable new appliance, we'll tell you honestly that replacement usually makes more sense — instead of upselling you a repair that isn't worth it. You get that straight answer during the diagnostic.
We work on all major brands, including Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Maytag, KitchenAid, Bosch, and more — refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, and microwaves.
Yes. Every repair comes with our 30-day workmanship guarantee. If something we fixed stops working within 30 days, we come back and make it right at no extra labor charge.
We stock the most common parts on the truck, so many repairs are finished in a single visit. If your appliance needs a special-order part, we'll quote it, order it, and return to install it — without charging a second diagnostic fee.
Scheduling & Service Area
In most cases we can schedule within 24–48 hours, and same-day service is often available. We respond to every request within 1 hour during business hours, Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM.
Yes. Same-day appointments are often available, and emergency or after-hours visits are available by request — for example, a refrigerator full of food that suddenly stopped cooling. Call (305) 555-0142 and we'll do our best to get a dad out to you fast.
We serve South Florida's tri-county area: Miami-Dade County (Miami, Hialeah, Kendall, Coral Gables & more), Broward County (Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines & more), and Palm Beach County (West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach & more). We come to homes, condos, and apartments — see the full list on our service area page.
We ask that an adult be home at least at the start of the visit, so we can walk through the problem together and you can approve the quote. For longer jobs, we can make arrangements if you need to step out — just let us know when you book.
About Us
Yes — we are fully licensed, insured, and bonded, so your home and our work are covered from the moment we walk in the door.
They're the real dads of the family that started this business — two fathers with decades of combined experience fixing everything in their own homes. Their kids grew up watching them fix anything that broke, and started My Dad Can Fix It so other families could feel that same "don't worry, I've got you." Read the whole story on our About Us page.
